Glow Jars & Googly Eyes

Finally!! The end of July and our schedules came together and Breckin is finally HOME from visiting her dad for the summer. We packed up our tiny camper and headed out for the weekend!
I wish I could take the credit for these magical little jars but I cannot. I've seen the idea online at several places. Find a jar with a lid (I bought these at walmart for $2) then get glow sticks from the dollar store. I also bought a pair of scissors for a dollar since I don't take scissors camping with me :) We clipped the tops off of the glow sticks and then put the glow juice into the jars. Then shake shake shake.
***USE GLOVES***
We didn't. Even though the glow juice is nontoxic it STINKS and is oil based so it stains clothes and takes forever to completely get the smell off of hands.
I'm blonde. The more I lose the braver I become at trying new things. Perhaps not the best decision I've ever made but it's sure fun changing things around. After being home I realized that not a single time did I worry about being too fat or too embarrasingly ugly to do anything. I just jumped on the boat, swam when my daughter wanted to and LIVED. I brought two swimsuits with me and one suit I couldn't wear because it fell off of me when I put it on.
Google eyes has got to be the smartest idea ever. If you reach the 'I'm bored, what can I do?' stage of the trip, just crack out a package of stick on google eyes and watch all of the funny places the eyes end up at. So cute, and you've gotta wonder what the tenants after you leave will think when they come to camp at your site!

Abs Diet for Women

My trainer suggested this book and (as always) it was awesome. ABS DIET stands for the foods that it suggests you eat. It isn't a calorie counting 'diet' but I'm keeping track for a while anyway just to make sure I don't get out of hand. The most exciting thing is that you get a 'cheat' meal once a week...this excites me. I've been doing it a week and have lost two pounds. I thought that eating my cheat meal of enchiladas, a peach bellini and a piece of cheesecake that I would be at least a few pounds heavier, but the scales actually showed no change the next day. Very exciting, this is a way of eating that I really believe I can stick to forever...the one thing I would suggest is getting the actual book. I got it on my nook and it's too hard to try to find a certain recipe or exercise. So I found the book itself in the bargain section of a book store and it's nice to be able to bookmark and highlight real pages.

Skort Love!

My usual running atire has been sweats or the tight pants made with lycra. I know they didn't look good but they helped 'hold it all in'. I tried running in shorts but my legs are not, in any way, thin... and I chafed. So I noticed a friend running in skorts...the most attractive thing about her skorts were that they were WHITE. The ugly pants I've been wearing are black and they are so very hot.
So without hesitating, the next time I saw a Hibbets I trucked myself in, and threw some medium Nike skorts next to the register. I ALMOST passed out when the total was over $50 but I really wanted to try them. I usually do not spend a lot on fitness things but lately I'm shelling out a little more because comfort really is priceless.
Oddly enough, the same week I bought the skorts I found this article on skorts helping a track team to run faster. After I brought them home and the Mediums FIT, there was no way I was taking them back. Now that I've been wearing them I am in L-O-V-E! The compression shorts inside of the skort help to hold it all together and I'm not constantly worried about my thighs because they are covered by the skort. When I have some extra cashola I am buying more and hoping to find a pink pair because white is such a hard color for me to keep white! So I thought I would share my new obsession and hope that they help you as much as they help you....and if they help us run faster, that'd be pretty cool too!

Splenda Lemonade & Stand pics!

I found this amazing old stand on the side of a business, it was green and said 'slushy' on the front...so the owner sold me the stand and we refurbished it. I'm so proud of it! Hubby painted the pink and yellow and my mom did the lemons and text. I realize this isn't much of a 'healthy' post but we did make two types of lemonade. We had regular and SPLENDA. I squeezed over 50 lemons to make the lemonade, we actually ran out of the splenda within about 30 minutes. Both tasted VERY good!

I bought the straws off of etsy and printed off the tiny banners after adding cutesy text

My daughters chillin' at the stand.

I know it was probably wrong of me but I wanted to make something that would withstand Oklahoma heat. I found this recipe for SMORES IN A JAR. I DID taste them and if I were to do it again I would add more chocolate. (FYI)
I do not want to think about the calorie count in those....so without further ado, the splenda recipe!

INGREDIENTS

  • 5 cups water
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 cup SPLENDA® No Calorie Sweetener, Granulated
  • Ice cubes for serving

DIRECTIONS

  1. Stir water, lemon juice, and SPLENDA® Granulated Sweetener in a large pitcher until the SPLENDA® Granulated Sweetener dissolves.
  2. Serve over ice, garnished with the mint and lemon, if desired.
Next time I will make a LOT more, it really tastes amazing and got rave reviews!

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!!
